Trump Retracts Nomination of Isaacman for NASA Chief


 President Donald Trump abruptly announced late Saturday that he is rescinding the nomination of billionaire Jared Isaacman to lead NASA. The decision halts the confirmation process for the tech entrepreneur and associate of adviser Elon Musk.

In a social media post, Trump stated he was withdrawing the nomination after a "thorough review of prior associations." The White House did not immediately elaborate on what those associations were. The President added that he intends to announce a new, "Mission aligned" nominee who would prioritize an "America First in Space" policy.

Isaacman, the 42-year-old founder of Shift4, has worked closely with Musk's SpaceX for private space missions. His nomination had already been approved by a Senate committee and was awaiting a vote by the full Senate.

The move comes shortly after Elon Musk, a Trump campaign donor, announced his departure from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk expressed his disappointment with the decision to withdraw Isaacman's nomination, describing him as a rare, competent, and good-hearted individual.
