Candace Parker: A Champion Embarking on a New Chapter

Candace Parker, one of the most decorated players in the history of women's basketball, has seamlessly transitioned from a legendary on-court career into a multifaceted role as a prominent sports analyst, business leader, and dedicated family woman. Since announcing her retirement from the WNBA in April 2024, Parker has continued to shape the world of sports from off the court.

A Celebrated Legacy and Upcoming Honors

In recognition of her monumental impact on the sport, two of the franchises she led to championships are set to retire her No. 3 jersey in the summer of 2025. The Los Angeles Sparks, where she played for 13 seasons and won the 2016 WNBA title and Finals MVP, will raise her jersey to the rafters on June 29, 2025. Later in the summer, her hometown team, the Chicago Sky, whom she led to their first-ever WNBA championship in 2021, will honor her by retiring her jersey on August 25, 2025.

A Powerful Voice in Sports Media

Parker has become a highly respected and insightful voice in sports broadcasting. She serves as an analyst and commentator for NBA TV, TNT/Bleacher Report, and CBS Sports, covering both the NBA and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Her deep knowledge of the game, developed over a storied career, provides viewers with expert analysis and a unique player's perspective. She has recently been noted for her commentary on the physicality faced by new WNBA stars like Caitlin Clark, drawing from her own experiences as a league icon.

Family and Personal Life

Beyond her professional endeavors, Parker is focused on her family. She is married to Russian basketball player Anna Petrakova, and they have three children: daughter Lailaa, and two sons, Airr and Hartt. Hartt was born in May 2024, shortly after Parker's retirement announcement.

Candace Parker's career is a testament to excellence, versatility, and breaking barriers. From winning two NCAA titles with the University of Tennessee to securing three WNBA championships with three different teams (Los Angeles Sparks, Chicago Sky, Las Vegas Aces) and earning two Olympic gold medals, her legacy as a player is secure. As she embraces her post-playing career, she continues to be a leading and influential figure in the sports world.
